Meet the Team - Daniel Cobb
A little bit about me:
I graduated from the University of London, with a BA Hons in History. I've always loved social history, art and architecture, especially the rich history of London's ever changing environment. Soon after graduating I worked for Bonhams and undertook research held at the Imperial War Museum, shortly after I came to work for Daniel Cobb.
I have enjoyed the flexibility of working for a small but constantly evolving company. I started in the sales department, but with the fast changing local markets of London Bridge and Bermondsey, we quickly saw the opportunity to develop our new development business.
Daniel Cobb sponsored me to undertake a MSc in Development, Finance and Law at Southbank University, enabling me to take up my APC and to join the RICS. I was then able to set up the Land, Development & New Homes department, which has gone from strength to strength. I've worked on projects as varied as flat packed eco homes to 22 storey mixed use towers.
What I do out of work:
Attempting to entertain my children and reducing my wife’s list of DIY jobs on our own home keeps me busy! I am also on a charity committee seeking to raise funds to build a memorial to a Victoria Cross winner in Bermondsey. What makes this memorial exceptional is the heroic story of one mans life which will be interpreted through using materials that were at the scene of the battle. It's a really inspirational story of an ordinary man from Bermondsey who did an extraordinary thing in a difficult situation. I love the idea of inspiring new generations of Bermondsey residents to think about the amazing history of the area: it's people, places and events.
What I enjoy about working for Daniel Cobb:
It is the varied nature of the projects and the need for flexibility offered by Daniel Cobb, which provides a rich and varied workload. No two days are the same. I have the satisfaction of knowing that I can make a real difference by helping clients make the best homes and environments they possibly can. I get an enormous sense of satisfaction from knowing that my input has shaped the future of other peoples lives.
Proudest moments to date:
My department, which started in 2007, was built from scratch and now successfully closes on off market land transactions in excess of £10m. We now consult on major schemes that will change parts of London, rejuvenating communities and local areas. I have great satisfaction of delivering a new home product that the Sales and Letting departments dispatch at ever impressive transaction rates.
