A Very Expensive Poison Play in Waterloo

Based on the book by Luke Harding, this world premiere of the play A Very Expensive Poison has hit London's Old Vic Theatre at a poignant time. A shocking assassination in the heart of London takes place and in a bizarre mix of high-stakes global politicis and radioactive villainy, a man pays with his life. At a time of global crises and a looming new Cold War, this play sends us careering through the shawdowy world of international espionage from Moscow to Mayfair. The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Exhibition in Southbank

Jim Henson’s beloved 1982 movie returns to our screens this year in the form of a brand new, epic adventure series from Netflix. Set before the events of the iconic movie, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is set to have original fans in a spin. Alongside a selection of workshops and screenings, this immersive exhibition at BFI London, showcases puppets and props among the stunning sets. This experience brings to life the craft behind the production – transporting you into, and behind the scenes of, the world of Thra.

Chinese Food Festival in London Bridge

The annual Chinese Food Festival comes to Potters Field Park this weekend, bringing you the best in delicious Chinese cuisine. Tuck into dumplings, noodles, spicy and dimsum to your hearts content, whilst also stopping to take part in some of the workshops that will be taking place throughout the day. Join the Kum Lee Team from School of Wok, where Chef Jeremy Pang and his team will be teaching you the skills you need to perfect your favourite Chinese dishes. Then stop by the UK Han Culture Association to learn about Hanfu, the traditional clothing of the Han Chinese – the major ethnic group in China. Dogfight Musical in Southwark

The latest youth production presented by the British Theatre Academy, Dogfight The Musical is based on the 1991 movie of the same name starring River Phoenix. It’s 21st November, 1963. On the night before their deployment to Vietnam, three young Marines set out for one final boys’ night of debauchery, partying and maybe a little troub;e. But when Corporal Eddie Birdlace meets Rose, an awkward and idealistic waitress whom he enlists to win a cruel bet with his fellow recruits, she writes the rules of the game and opens his eyes to the power of love and compassion. Ends Saturday.

Here is Elsewhere Play on Southbank

This is the latest exhibition exploring home, intimacy, place and belonging in the work of the late South African photographer Thabiso Sekgala. Here Is Elsewhere brings together 50 photographs from six different series taken between 2009 and 2014 in South Afric, Jordan and Germany. Many of Sekgala’s photographs - including portraits, street scenes and elegiac depections of public and domestic space – offer nuanced, alternative narratives about life in contemporary Africa. The Secret River Play on Southbank

The Secret River is a deeply moving and unflinching journey into Australia’s dark history. Adaopted from Kate Grenville’s acclaimed novel, this award-winning production tells the story of two families divided by culture and land. William Thornhill arrives in New South Wales a convict from the slums of London. Upon earning his pardon he discovers that his new world offers something he dind’t dare dream of: a place to call his own. But as he plants a crop and lays claim to the soil on the banks of the Hawkesbury River, he finds that this land is not his to take. It’s ancient custodians are the Dharug people.
