Villiers Quartet Performance in Westminster

The Villiers Quartet, Oxford University’s Quartet-in-Residence, will be performing a unique and spellbinding concert in a special appearance during the Americana Festival at St. John’s Smith Square this Sunday. Named after Villiers Street in London, the Villiers Quartet is one of the UK’s most charismatic string quartets, and encompasses the grand and iconic spirit of the extraordinary music tradition in Britain. History and Design of the Apollo Theatre Tour in Victoria

As part of the London Design Festival that is currently taking place across London, the Apollo Victoria Theatre which is home to the smash hit show Wicked, will be opening its doors to celebrate the history and design of this iconic piece of London’s Theatreland. Originally opened as a cinema in 1930, this Grade II* listed theatre is a testament to art deco design. Join the guided tour to gain an exclusive insight into the unique features of this wonderful space and listen to a special talk to discover the creative process that goes into the design of a West End production, from initial concept stages through to its first performance.

Antony & Cleopatra Play on South Bank

If you’re keen to pay a visit to the theatre this weekend, then head to the National Theatre to catch Antony and Cleopatra before it comes to an end. Caesar and his assassins are dead. But at the fringes of a war-torn empire, the Egyptian Queen Cleopatra and Mark Antony have fallen fiercely in love. In a tragic fight between devotion and duty, obsession becomes a catalyst for war. Politics and passion are violently intertwined in this Shakespearean tale of power. Ralph Fiennes, known from films such as Schindler’s List, The English Patient and Harry Potter plays Antony, whilst Sophie Okonedo from Hotel Rwanda and various TV series plays Queen Cleopatra. Sylvia Play in Waterloo

A brand-new musical comes to The Old Vic in Waterloo. With a 200-year history of nurturing creativity and supporting new adventures and, in celebration of this major anniversary, they are proudly giving this new musical its first lease of life in collaboration with Sadler’s Wells, Kate Prince: The ZooNation Company and their co-commissioning partners, 14-18 NOW. 100 years after the first women in Britain were granted the vote, Kate Prince combines dance, hip hop, soul and funk to shed new light on a remarkable story at the heart of the Suffragette movement. A momentous hour in British history, Sylvia supports the Mayor’s #BehindEveryGreatCity campaign to celebrate the centenary of the first women wining the right to vote and tackle gender inequality in London.

Designjunction Projects on Bankside

Designjunction is an international design show that comes to Oxo Tower Wharf this weekend as part of the London Design Festival 2018. The event will bring hundreds of product launches, pop-up shops, bespoke installations, tempting street food and purpose-built bars to the area, presenting the latest in cutting-edge design from more than 200 international brands. At Oxo Tower Wharf, major brand activations will be hosted, along with exhibitions and experiential events and 25 designer-maker shops. This will all take place alongside their creative hub that already plays host to renowned brands including Innermost and Bodo Sperlein. Kraft Beer Oktoberfest in Elephant & Castle

Over the course of 3 days, drink the best lagers that South London has to offer at this Oktoberfest weekend hosted by German Kraft, a microbrewery from Germany and Mercato Metropolitano. Mercato Metropolitano will be transformed into a Bavarian paradise. At this traditional beer festival, there will be live German music, Scheinshaxen, bratwurst, a hog roast, pretzels and – most importantly – Steins full of beer from four local breweries. Gipsy Hill, Anspach & Hobday and Mondo Brewery will be joined by 3 microbreweries to give you 16 different craft beers to try as this urban beer garden. Sing, dance and drink to your hearts content without being in Germany.
