A Polaroid For A Refugee Exhibition in Lambeth

As part of their activities for Refugee Week 2018, the Migration Museum are displaying a selection of images from A Polaroid For A Refugee. This project that has been put together by photographer Giovanna Del Sarto, depicts points of transition in the lives of individual refugees. Giovanna has been visiting multiple locations across Europe which have seen large numbers of refugee arrivals since 2015. Her initial aim of the trips to these locations was to volunteer and to understand the people involved, however on one of these trips she took her Polaroid Land Camera with and took pictures of people who asked to have their photos taken. Taken to reflect the inner strength and dignity maintained by refugees during their long journeys, she also gives one copy to the refugee as a reminder of that moment. To take a look at these poignant photos, head to the museum before the end of June.
