Make selling and buying London property less stressful
According to nearly two thousand people who took part in a Which National Property Survey in 2016, moving house can be more stressful than having children, changing jobs or getting married. Seven out of ten respondents said they found selling property stressful and almost the same number experienced stress when buying a home.
The popular reasons why homeowners decide to move are:
- Needing more space
- The desire to upgrade to a more desirable property
- Starting a new job
- Children leaving home
- Starting a new relationship
- Moving closer to family
- Moving to a school catchment area
- Wanting a change of lifestyle
- Trying to reduce household running costs
- Escaping negative changes in the local area
It’s clear from this list that many homeowners move following a major change in their circumstances. This suggests that your stress levels are likely to be high, even before you’ve asked for a property valuation.
During their research Which asked property experts for their tips on how to make the process of selling and buying less stressful and they came up with the following advice "If you want to keep your stress levels as low as possible, you should choose your service providers based on quality, rather than price. Hiring efficient, highly recommended professionals will minimise unnecessary delays, help you achieve the best selling price from the best buyer and make the home-moving process as smooth as possible.”
Which researchers also discovered that one in six recent home movers were dissatisfied with their estate agent which highlights the importance of choosing an agent who will put your interests first when they are selling your property.
